Foto oxidation is the principle of oxidation in the air by generating a high reactive oxygen radicals generated by UV radiation. Foto oxidation is used by Bioclimatic only in the Phoenix products as well as the Viroxx. These were specially designed for air ventilation systems and medical air disinfection. What can be terminated by foto oxidation?
• VOS (< 500 mg/m³) • H2S, NH3, amines, mercaptanen, … (< 50 ppm) • Odor Direct photolysis Components who strongly absorb in the used wave length zone ( some VOS, NH3, H2S, mercaptanen, amines, …) can be directly be broken down under influenced of UV-C radiation (photolysis). Oxidation by reactive oxygen radicals Components who don’t absorb the UV radiation directly, as reaction products of the photolysis reactions, can be oxidized by a highly reactive oxygen radicals. These are formed by the effect of the UV radiation on oxygen which is present in the gas flow, according tothese reactions:
At these oxidation reactions CO2, H2O, N2, SO2, are formed as final products. Photo-oxidation is extremely appropriate for discontinuous processes with low solvent concentrations (maximum 500mg/Nm³). The process achieves its steady-state removal output and has no extra jumpstart cots or losses in comparison with continuous working action. |
